| Glendurragh Childcare Services Ltd. was established in 2003 with the remit of the advancement and promotion of childcare provision in Kesh to serve the village and surrounding areas of Lack, Ederney, Pettigo, Boa Island and Tullyhommon. The Company is operated as a community buinsess with a Board of Directors, working in a voluntary capacity, is comprised of people from the local community all of whom share a common goal for the development and enhancement of childcare facilities in the area.
The Centre
The Centre is 4,500 sqft and occupies two units in the Mantlin Enterprise Centre. It caters for children from 6 weeks to 11 years in three indvidual areas - Baby Buds & Little Oaks, Twiglets, and Out of Schools Club. It has been designed with the needs of children at the fore e.g. home corners, messy sinks, computer stations.
The centre is staffed with two managers, three team leaders and a pool of care staff. It provides 20 jobs to the local people in various roles. In addition to their qualifications all staff have attended a variety of courses such as raising child protection awaremess, Curriculum Planning and Evaluation, and First Aid to complement their education and experience.
A secure purpose built outdoor area was an addition to the centre in 2004. It is located outside Twiglets' room and is only used by children attending the centre. The children are also taken to the nearby local park, when weather and staff ratios permit.
A transport service for the collection and delivery of children from the local primary schools Kesh, Ederney and Lack was secured with funding for a minibus in 2004. This enhanced the service by insuring that parents have sound knowledge that their child/children will be collected in a safe and secure vehicle, meeting all legislations.
The centre is regsiterd with NIPPA and Playboard, and approved with the Western Health Social Care Trust by inspection on an annual basis.
